#49: Vote for next month's snail mail topic!
Plus, choose the prompts for September's microfiction.
Howdy, sweet cowboys of my heart,
How is it already late September? I feel like I blinked and the month is nearly gone. Today’s newsletter is a quickie. I’ll…
💌 tell y’all how voting works,
💌 link you to several different ways you can join in on the fun,
💌 and share the poll so you can vote on the required action and word for our monthly microfiction, choose October’s spooooky mail topic, AND suggest future themes!
🗳 How it works
Every month, y’all decide what historical mail topic we’re exploring, and I research the ever-loving hell out of it for you, sending my research out on the 10th of the month. September was all about the Pony Express:
On the last day of the month, I mail you a piece of flash fiction related to the month’s historical topic - and you get to guide its making. Postcard Club members and my Patreon crew vote on a required word and action that must appear in the story.
You have one week to vote (using the link below). Once voting closes, I’ll write you a story short enough to fit on a postcard in just 72 hours, using the prompts you picked.
On the thirtieth of this month, I’ll send y’all the story and reveal your choice for October’s topic. I’ll also share the postcard art I made and mailed to Postcard Club/Patreon member’s homes. It’s almost always related thematically to the month’s history topic.
Then, I pass the baton onto y’all. Write your own microfiction according to the prompts, then post it in the comments, email it to me in private, or give it to a cowboy crossing the plains and hope it reaches me unscathed.
Voting is fun! Easy! And costs as little as two bucks a month! To join the voting and support an interdisciplinary artist/researcher afford her snail mail habits, upgrade your subscription…
join my Patreon for as low as $2 a month (that’s the cost of one coffee)…
or refer three folks to my newsletter and nab a free month of voting!
